Monroeville, the county seat of Monroe County, Ala., is located on U.S. Highway 84. This east-west route, also known as the El Camino East/West Corridor, links Brunswick, Ga. in the east to El Paso, Tex. in the west.
Monroe County is located a short drive from U.S. I-65, a crucial North/South route in the eastern portion of the United States.
Rail and a navigable waterway are also assets for Monroeville and Monroeville County. Monroe County is disected by Alabama and Gulf Coast Railway (click for downloadable map). The Alabama River makes up the western border of the county and makes a short trip south to the Port of Mobile.
